Alexander Kudriavchenko
Alexander Kudriavchenko is a well-known Ukrainian artist who uses traditional painting styles and at the same time experiments with contemporary artistic aspect.
His painting “Stop in the desert” was exhibited in the Louvre at Salon SNBA in Carrousel du Louvre in 2004. The painting “Rouge” was awarded the prestigious “Des Amis du Salon d’Automne” in the category of Painting on PARIS SALON D’AUTOMNE 2002, Paris, France (2002). The PARIS SALON D’AUTOMNE is one of the oldest world annual exhibitions. Since its inception, works by artists such as Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Paul Gauguin, Georges Rouault, André Derain and Marcel Duchamp have been shown. And the painting “Rouge” by Alexander Kudriavchenko have been awarded best painting in 2002. Since then Alexander’s works are part of great collections in Ukraine, Germany, Spain and USA.
He studied in the National Academy of Art and Architecture in the monumental studio of the famous Ukrainian painter Mikola Storozhenko. He is a member of the National Artistic Society and owner of Ukrainian President Grant for talented youth. Besides Alexander conducted a numerous monumental art projects in the interiors and also finished some monumental works in the Ukrainian cities as muralist. A 100 square meters mural on the ceiling and walls of Kiev’s theatre Reviera is of his hand.
General part of last exhibitions practice was a series of exhibitions at Germany under the umbrella of “Kunststrom” in “Villa Herzogenrath” (2016-2018) and series of exhibitions and workshops in Spain (2011-2017).
The aesthetic of Spanish landscape and medieval art is the main reference of Alexanders works. His paintings are so deep in its idea, full of symbolism and attention to details. His love for the Ukrainian Baroque icons, proto-Renaissance and Modernism challenges him to create his own art language on the cross of the art styles. He comes out for a clearness of the painting art, for high level development of artist drawing skills, and for inner education of the artist. Alexander’s art style is quite graphically but the artist tries to find balance between colour and line, plane and depth, movement and static.

The paintings of Oleksandr Kudryavchenko attract audiences not only with their perfect display of skill but also with their amazing and harmonious combination of dynamic anxiety and internal silence. His work abounds with color, motion, and challenge, and yet these aspects seem unattainable, set in a meditative state of the inner recesses of the mind. This description applies to most of Oleksandr's work and exemplifies his creations. His unique combination of statics and dynamics allows one to observe his paintings on several levels: as a personal confession, a self-reflection on the outside world, and an inspiring sense of God's presence.

Artist-in-Residence project at
CeRCCa Centre for Research and Creativity Casamarles (Barcelona)
During his residencies at CeRCCa 2011 and 2012 Alexander Kudriavchenko participated at ‘The Open Circle Workshop’ organized by the cultural association SonaQueEtMous and coordinated by Zoe Balasch and Olga Sola. ‘The Open Circle Workshop’ took place in June 2011 and again in July 2012. The workshop was an space of experimentation and creation where the central axis was the rhythmic and emotional training. Rhythm was perceived as the key to produce exchange amongst the participants. The workshop was based on the theater technique of Jaques Lecoq and an integral part of the same was the interaction between disciplines. Following his research on the relation between music, movement and painting Alexander developed a 5m x 2.5m painting in collaboration with the participants. The workshop took place in Vilobi del Penedes and was fruit of a collaboration of SonaQueEtMous with the local School and the Municipality of the village. The project was directed by the expert Ruben Segal and accompanied by the musicians Jose Luis Saguento, Carlos Perez and Octavio Beltran and 42 people participated in it.
The collaboration between Alexander and Ruben Segal, Jose Luis Saguento, Carlos Perez and Octavio Beltran continued one week later in CeRCCa where the four of them together with the performer Zoe Balasch and the musician Olga Sola developed an experimental interdisciplinary performing piece.
During his residency at CeRCCa Alexander Kudriavchenko did a presentation of his work at the Arsenal Contemporary Arts and Crafts School in Vilafranca del Penedes. The presentation was accompained by a workshop organized by CeRCCa and delivered by Alexander. The workshop consisted in the creation of a big mural in one of the walls of the Arsenal Contemporary Arts and Crafts School. The mular was developed with the collaboration of the local students.
